The Inara Foundation Special Needs Centre provides dedicated education, physiotherapy, and care for children with disabilities — because no child should be invisible.
Children with physical and learning disabilities in Northern Nigeria face a double burden — the deprivation of conflict and the neglect of a system that rarely makes space for them. There are almost no schools equipped to support them. Families are left on their own.
The Inara Foundation Special Needs Centre was established to change that. Located in Maiduguri, Borno State, the Centre provides specialized education, physiotherapy, speech therapy, occupational therapy, and family counseling — all under one roof, free of charge for the most vulnerable.
Every child at the Centre receives a tailored plan across five core service areas — addressing their unique needs holistically.
Tailored learning programs designed for children with cognitive, physical, and developmental disabilities — taught by certified special needs educators using adaptive methodologies.
Hands-on physiotherapy sessions to improve mobility, muscle strength, and physical independence for children with motor disabilities and physical impairments.
Structured speech and language therapy for children with communication challenges — building confidence, articulation, and the ability to express themselves.
Practical therapy that develops fine motor skills, daily living skills, and independence — preparing children to function confidently in their home and community environments.
Dedicated support for the families of children with disabilities — equipping parents and caregivers with the knowledge, skills, and emotional resilience to provide consistent care at home.
For older children and young adults, we provide vocational training and life skills development — building pathways to independence and meaningful participation in their communities.
"A child born with a disability in a conflict zone carries a burden no child should carry alone. The Centre exists to lift that burden — not with pity, but with skill, love, and dignity."
